About the Club

Welcome to Pickleball Lisboa! We are here to promote the sport of Pickleball in the Lisbon area and build a community of Pickleball fanatics! Our goal is to have the best athletes and the most fun!

How it started

Clube Pickleball Lisboa was started by an American couple, Derek and LeEllen Hale, who learned to play pickleball in the United States and brought their passion for the sport with them to Lisbon following their retirement.  They began searching for pickleball players in the area through social media and discovered a few players as well as a business, Oeiras Padel Academy, who decided to build the first permanent pickleball court in the Lisbon area. The Hales started to organize the group by establishing social media presence and arranging Open Play sessions and round robin tournaments. What started as a small group of 4-6 players, has grown to over 120 official club members. Clube Pickleball Lisboa was officially formed as a not-for-profit, all volunteer club on 12 September, 2023.
